Zine Submissions

Welcome to the Glue Girls zine! Our monthly publication celebrates creativity, DIY spirit, and the magic of community. We invite all members of our community to contribute to our zine, whether it’s a DIY project, collage, playlist, recommendations list, or something else entirely. We are a space for creators to share, inspire, and explore new ideas together.

Please read through the following submission guidelines carefully to ensure your work aligns with our values and vision for the zine.

1. Submission Requirements

  • Content Type:
    We welcome all types of creative submissions, including but not limited to:

    • DIY Projects

    • Collages

    • Playlists

    • Recommendations (books, podcasts, movies, etc.)

    • Written articles or stories

    • Art or photography

    • Any other creative contribution that you’d like to share!

  • Length & Format:

    • One-Page Limit: Submissions should be no longer than one page. If your submission includes a lot of text or is a larger project, consider submitting it as a blog submission instead.

    • Image or Text: Submissions can be either an image (e.g. a visual collage) or text (e.g. poetry). If submitting text, Glue Girls will create a handcrafted design to go along with your text submission.

    • Digital/Handmade: Submissions can be handmade or digital. If submitting handmade content, please ensure it’s scanned or photographed in high resolution (300 dpi for print or 72 dpi for web).

    • File Formats: Text-based content should be submitted in a Word document or Google Doc. For images, we accept PNG, JPEG, and PDF formats.

  • Respect & Kindness:
    We encourage creativity, inclusivity, and kindness. All submissions must be respectful and free of offensive content. We reserve the right to refuse any submissions that do not align with our values.

2. Submission Categories

Here are some submission categories and ideas to inspire your creativity:

  • DIY Projects:
    Share easy-to-follow instructions for crafts that others can replicate at home. For example, pressed flower bookmarks, autumn wreaths, or upcycled clothing projects.

  • Collages:
    Create visual art pieces using materials such as magazine cut-outs, photos, drawings, or digital art. We love creative and experimental designs!

  • Playlists:
    Curate a playlist that complements Glue Girls. For example, a cozy fall playlist or a crafting soundtrack. 

  • Recommendations Lists:
    Suggest books, movies, podcasts, or online resources related to arts and crafts. Examples could include sustainable fashion reads, crafting inspiration, or recommended arts podcasts.

  • Personal Stories or Essays:
    Share your experience, insights, or reflections. This can include stories about community-building, creativity, or personal journeys in arts and crafts.

3. Submission Guidelines & Expectations

  • Deadline:
    Submissions must be received at least two weeks before the first of the month for consideration in the upcoming month’s zine. For example, if you want to contribute to the April zine, please submit by March 15th.

  • File Name:
    When submitting digital content, please name your file in a clear and concise manner, e.g., “Autumn_Collage_JaneC.jpg” or “PressedFlowerBookmarkTutorial-JaneC.docx.”

  • Images:
    If your submission includes images, please ensure they are high quality, clear, and properly scanned or photographed. Images should be at least 300 dpi for print or 72 dpi for web. We accept PNG, JPEG, and PDF formats.

  • Multiple Submissions:
    You are welcome to submit multiple pieces in a single submission form, as long as each piece fits the submission criteria.

  • Credits & Acknowledgment:
    We will always credit you for your work. Please let us know if you would prefer to remain anonymous, and we will list your submission as coming from a “Glue Girls Community Member.”

  • Editing Rights:
    Glue Girls reserves the right to make minor edits to submissions for clarity, formatting, length or resolution correction. We will never alter the essence of your submission without your consent.

  • No Plagiarism:
    All submissions must be original works. By submitting, you confirm that your content is your own creation and does not infringe on any copyrights. 

4. How to Submit

To submit your work, please fill out the below Zine Submission Form. You can submit via the form directly or email us (gluegirls.club@gmail.com) your work if you encounter any issues with the form.

5. Privacy & Data Usage

  • Personal Information:
    Your personal information (name, email, etc.) will only be used for managing your submission and communications related to the zine. We will never share your personal data with third parties without your consent.

  • Privacy Policy:
    For full details on how your data is handled, please read our Privacy Policy.

6. Acknowledging Your Submission

  • Review Process:
    We will review all submissions within two weeks of the deadline. If your work is selected for publication, we will notify you and provide the details about where and when it will appear.

  • Response Time:
    If you have not received a response within two weeks, please feel free to reach out to us for an update.
